Tea with Friends
At breakfast one day, these fellows suddenly got my attention. They came alive, practically begging me to take their portrait.

Eating Slowly
Most people have come across trees engulfing some sort of manmade object. This tree is slowly exacting revenge by swallowing an old trail marker nailed into it's trunk decades ago.

Moan Home
These nest holes may have had different tenants over time, though no doubt they were started by woodpeckers.

Watcher in the Woods
There are times when I find a place (or a face) in nature that seems to belong to the realm of the Little People – fairies, trolls, goblins, brownies, elves, sprites, pixies, etc. I can imagine how people in the past came to believe in such creatures as they hurried along woodland trails or open moors or highlands to get home before nightfall. They may have feared wild nature's forces and handled any unexplained phenomenon by creating colorful legends and lore.

"Spirit of White-Oak"
Sometimes you don't have to go looking for tree spirits – they look directly at you when you pass by. This one resides on the fallen, 500 year-old Meadow Oak at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, NY. Kind enough to let me take his portrait because i caught him in a good mood.
